In recent years, initiatives empowering women in various sectors have gained momentum globally. One such groundbreaking project making waves in Egypt is focused on supporting Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers to develop educational programs that enhance foundational competences and entrepreneurial skills among women. This pioneering project, funded by the EU, aims to combat unemployment and gender inequality by promoting entrepreneurship among women in Egypt.

The WEntre project is designed to address the specific challenges facing female entrepreneurship in the Arab Mediterranean Countries, with a primary focus on Egypt. By leveraging frameworks such as the European Reference Framework for Entrepreneurial Competences (ERF), ENTRECOMP, and the UN Women Values & Competences Framework, the project equips VET institutions with the tools to create impactful educational programs that empower women to succeed in the entrepreneurial landscape. One of the key objectives of the project is to build the capacity of VET institutions in Egypt through the collaborative development and delivery of VET programs. This approach, emphasizing co-design, co-development, and co-evaluation of skills and competencies, ensures that the programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of women entrepreneurs in the region. Furthermore, the WEntre project aims to enhance youth employment and employability by offering targeted support to women in Egypt, who often face additional barriers to entering the workforce. By providing these women with the necessary resources, skills, and knowledge, the project not only empowers them to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors but also contributes to broader economic growth and gender equality in the region. In addition to its direct impact on women entrepreneurs, the WEntre project also serves as a platform to raise awareness, attract funding, and showcase progress in the field of female empowerment and entrepreneurship. By highlighting the success stories and achievements of women participating in the program, the project aims to inspire others and foster a supportive ecosystem for women in business. Overall, the WEntre project stands as a beacon of hope for women in Egypt, offering them the opportunity to realize their full potential as entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities. Through strategic partnerships, innovative approaches, and a steadfast commitment to empowering women, this project is paving the way for a more inclusive and equitable society in the Arab Mediterranean region.
